Candidate for Welwyn West
I grew up in Digswell and treasure my childhood memories of playing in the Mimram here in the village. When I was eight we moved away, but in 2006, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and realised I wanted to go home to my particular patch of Hertfordshire, so I moved to Welwyn in 2007.
I joined the LibDems in 2017 as I felt they shared my priorities: fairness and kindness; courtesy and equality; and respect and responsibility for ourselves, for each other, and for this land where we all live. As a wholistic practitioner, I have a deep concern for healthy living – from being able to exercise safely in green spaces, free of fly-tipping to having a healthy home environment; from problems around loneliness to the benefits of dancing and singing.
In my work as an osteopath I listen to my patients and their needs, and look at their problems in a wholistic way. If you elect me as your councillor, I will try to do the same for you. I would listen carefully and try to understand how to resolve your issues. I would work closely with the Parish Council and consider how best to be your voice on the Borough Council to get the best for both Welwyn and Oaklands West, and the Ayots.
I hope this helps you understand why I care about this very special village and community – including becoming a volunteer at the Welwyn Community Library, and joining in the Welwyn Rubbish Action Group for as many of their monthly clean-ups as I can get to - and why I would welcome the opportunity to serve you as councillor. I look forward to meeting you and listening to your hopes and concerns.
