Candidate for Welwyn Division
Frank has lived in the area of Welwyn Garden City for almost 18 years and is married with three children, who went to local schools.
He was brought up in East London and Essex and has lived in Surrey and Hampshire before coming to work in Welwyn Garden City in 1995. He worked as a Personal Injury Lawyer for over 30 years and during this time learnt a lot while helping people who had suffered serious and catastrophic injuries. In 2017, he took voluntary redundancy, and subsequently bought the coffee shop at Welwyn Garden City Railway Station, where he now works.
He has always believed in helping improve the lives of people, especially human rights, housing, education, health and the environment to enable people to have opportunities to reach potential regardless of class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, transgender or religious background. Frank says ‘It should not be where you are from, but where you are going that matters in life’.
He was elected as a Sherrards Ward Welwyn Hatfield Borough councillor in 2019 and has worked hard with his 11 Lib Dem colleagues to make a difference locally, which is still ongoing. His experience to date in dealing with complex and sensitive matters on behalf of all residents of Welwyn County Division will be an invaluable asset. In particular, he will work to improve our public transport system, better cycle paths, improved parking in residential roads throughout Hertfordshire and our 3 Point Action Plan:
- A FAIRER FUTURE: Any new housing must meet the needs of local communities. We must improve local infrastructure and services and provide support to local businesses rebuilding after Covid 19.
- A GREENER FUTURE: Tackling air quality must be a top priority. We must improve our cycle ways and public transport. We oppose Conservative plans to relax planning rules and will fight to protect green spaces across the County.
- A HEALTHIER FUTURE: Lessons must be learned from the pandemic. Support must be available to those who need it as part of a move to join up healthcare provision across the County.
At present the Lib Dems are an effective official opposition with 18 Councillors at present on Hertfordshire County Council and we hope to increase our representation so there will be a strong Lib Dem team, working to deliver and stand up for you. The Lib Dems now run four borough and district councils in Hertfordshire: Watford, Three Rivers, St Albans and North Herts and have one MP in St Albans. We also currently hold the balance of power in Welwyn Hatfield.
Vote for Frank on 6th May 2021 to give Welwyn County Division a strong voice on Hertfordshire County Council
