Borough Councillor for Panshanger
My name is Jane Quinton and I am very pleased to have been elected to represent Panshanger Ward on the Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council in May 2019 alongside Ayesha Rohale.
I have only recently ventured into local politics as a result of my work trying to save Panshanger Airfield from development. I have campaigned in Panshanger since 2012, helping to set up the Panshanger People group and the Save Panshanger website to involve local residents as well as aviation enthusiasts. I have been at the heart of the campaign throughout, trying to get the Council to listen to the reasonable objections of the local community, commenting on the Local Plan at each consultation and speaking on behalf of the community at the public hearings. I will continue to speak for the community now that plans for 650 houses on the Airfield and on Hillyfields have been approved, to make sure that the details of the plans are fit for purpose, that adequate infrastructure is provided and that existing residents are no longer forgotten and ignored.
In my new role I am sitting on the Cabinet Planning and Parking panel (which deals with the local plan) as well as the Resources Overview and Scrutiny Committee, the Licensing committee and the Streetscene working group. I look forward to helping to make Welwyn Garden City an even better place to live.
I want to stand up for fairness and equality in the community, helping people to achieve their potential whatever their circumstances. That means listening to people’s opinions and helping with their concerns, so please come along to one of our monthly surgeries. These are held on Saturday mornings in the Panshanger football club, Moneyhole Park at 10.00 – 10.45 on the last Saturday in each month. Alternatively, get in touch with me by email, or give me call.
