Families were invited to attend a FREE health and wellbeing event in Welwyn Garden City which took place on Wednesday 26th October 2016 between 10 am - 3 pm.It was held at Peartree Pomegranate Cafe, Woodhall Lane.
The event was initiated by the Welwyn Garden City Children's Centre Group and has been organised in partnership with many local agencies including: AGE UK, Mind in Mid Herts, Herts Sport Partnership, Herts Aid, Resolve, Butterflies, Gosling Park and many more. It was held to help local people from all communities get support and advice on health issues and enjoying a healthy lifestyle, in a friendly, welcoming environment.
The event also provided fitness, zumba, dance and martial art demonstrations as well as children activities and refreshments.
Visitors will be offered an opportunity to use a Boditrax machine, that will allow members of the public to do a quick body scan, which will show them their body composition (body mass index, fat %, muscle %, hydration levels etc.) in a few minutes.
Michal Siewniak, former Lib Dem cllr said: "I am delighted that we were able to run this event! All attendees had a chance to have a cup of tea, network and talk to various health providers. It was lovely, informal, interactive and very informative at the same time - great, powerful and noisy combination"!!
Both halls were full of residents, interacting with each other as well as with our local agencies. Children Centre, AGE UK, Mind in Mid Herts, Resolve, Herts Aid, Butterflies and so many more made the event so special.
